Pogo™ Bowl provides a simple but powerful interface to make your shots. Start out by moving the mouse left or right to get the ball into the desired position. Once you have the ball where you want it, click on the ball to set the position. While holding the mouse button down, drag the mouse up into the lane area - you will notice a pointer being drawn as you do this. Move the pointer to the desired location and release the mouse button to initiate the throw. The faster you move the mouse and release the mouse button, the faster your throw will be. If you pause before throwing, the pointer will "cool" down (denoted by the change in color from red to yellow) and your throw will be slower.

You can bowl a maximum of two balls per frame from frames 1-9, and a maximum of three balls on the 10th frame. The following results are possible:
  • If you knock down all of the pins on your first throw, you get a Strike. A Strike is worth 10 points plus whatever you bowl on your next two throws.
  • If you knock down some (or none) of the pins on your first throw and knock down the remaining pins on the next throw, you get a Spare. A Spare is worth 10 points plus whatever you bowl on your next throw.
  • If you knock down some (or none) of the pins on your first throw and are unable to knock down the remaining pins on the next throw, you are considered to have bowled an "open" frame. Bowling an open frame hurts your ability to get high scores, but you can usually recover by bowling Strikes and Spares.

On the 10th frame (and only on the 10th frame), it is possible to throw three balls instead of two. If you Strike on your first throw, you will get two more throws; or, if you Spare on your second throw, you will get one more throw. The maximum score you can reach in one game (also known as a "Perfect" game) is 300 points. At the end of each game, the number of pins you knock down is converted into Tokens at a 1:1 ratio. On top of this, you can earn more Tokens for knocking down bonus pins or winning the Strike it Rich bonus. You can read more about these in the other sections of the help file.

Here are some additional pointers designed to help you become a more advanced Pogo™ Bowl player.

To get consistent scores, try to find a shot that knocks down most or all of the pins each time you throw the ball. If you can recreate a good shot, your chances of getting a high score are very good. You can also help yourself by leaving simple spares. Complicated spares occur when the ball "gets away" from you. It's almost impossible to avoid these moments, but try to keep them to a minimum if you can.

Although you do not have to apply spin to bowl well, Pogo™ Bowl simulates part of real-life Bowling by allowing you to add spin to your shot. However, unlike real Bowling, you can impart spin on the ball at any time after you've thrown the ball (but before it impacts with the pins).

Once you have released the ball, you can click and hold the left or right mouse buttons to add spin to the ball. The left mouse button imparts left spin (which makes the ball eventually curve to the left) while the right mouse button imparts right spin (which makes the ball eventually curve to the right). Depending on the speed of the ball, the spin may take effect sooner or later and may be more or less exaggerated - you'll have to experiment with the direction and speed of your shots as well as the amount of spin to perfect your throws, but it can help you get more pin "action" on impact or, even more importantly, alter the path of a poorly thrown ball.

I recommend playing full games by staying in the same room forever. The gold pins are rare but will eventually come. The more games you play, the more of a chance they will show up.

I don't think so. In the overall ribbons credited with gold, but not Pogo Bowl which we were well into the top 10 o/o. I think this has happened with other games too. We usually only get one or two golds as only two of us play regularly.

THANK-YOU FOR YOUR INPUT. I KNOW I COULD JUST LEAVE,BUT I JUST WAS IN TOTAL SHOCK WHEN THIS PERSON STARTING SAYING ALL THESE THINGS.I DID FINALLY LEAVE AND SO DID THE OTHER PLAYER WHO WAS BEING VERBALLY ABUSED BY THIS PERSON. IT'S SAD WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT PEOPLE DOING SOMETHING LIKE THIS AND FOR NO REASON!AGAIN,I THANK-YOU FOR YOUR RESPONSE.

I"m sorry you had that experience. When you make a report, the only thing that will immediately happen, is the person will be muted. They are never removed from a game.
And, as for a room by yourself, I frequently go to the 20's or 30's room to bowl by myself when I am working on a badge. There isn't any chat to distract me. Many people use the Play Now button and get placed in a random room and they are just being social with their NT, SS and Good Game. But, if I don't respond, they get an attitude. So, I will usually leave. When I feel like socializing, I pick a room with lots of people and join them in the NT, SS and Good Game and have a great time.

Pogo Bowl • ABUSIVE PLAYER IN POGO BOWL

By haloboy772 » February 15th, 2018, 4:11 pm

I JUST HAD THE MOST OBNOXIOUS PLAYER WHO WAS THE ONLY ONE IN THE ROOM WHEN I ENTERED. HE KEPT YELLING AT ME TO LEAVE THE ROOM AND KEPT FIRING INSULTS AT ME. I THEN REPORTED HIM FOR ABUSE AND NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT IT. ANOTHER PLAYER CAME INTO THE ROOM AND HE CONTINUED TO HARASS BOTH OF US,TELLING US TO GET OUT AND THAT WE WERE POGO AND DON'T KNOW HOW TO READ. IN ALL THE YEARS THAT I'VE BEEN PLAYING,NEVER HAVE I COME ACROSS ANYTHING LIKE THIS. IN MY OPINION,HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM THE GAME. I WOULD'VE LEFT ,BUT I DIDN'T WANT TO GIVE HIM THE SATISFACTION THAT HE CHASED ME OUT OF THE GAME. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT THE IMPORTANCE WAS THAT HE HAVE THE ROOM ALL TO HIMSELF. TO ME,IT MADE NO SENSE. SORRY,BUT I JUST HAD TO VENT.

When a game malfunctions while I'm playing it, the first thing I do is exit the game, log out of Pogo and clear my browser's cache. I then close my browser and clear my Flash cache (or Java cache if I'm playing a Java game).

Then I open my browser again, log back into Pogo and try the game again. 99% of the time, the error is fixed.

Pogo Bowl • Re: pogo bowling

By Mod_Kyra » February 13th, 2018, 2:55 pm

I'd love to be able to help you but I don't understand what the problem is. You said you bowled 5 games and "it" shows you won 5 games. I'm not sure what the "missing points" means. I'm not sure what the XX/120 is if it's not rank or a badge but 98 + 5 = 103 so it looks like the math is correct.

As for the rank that's showing, no, we can't fix that. It's either a display glitch and will eventually reflect the right number again or it's an actual glitch. You might try asking Pogo. You're asking other members here in forums. Pogo can be reached via the Help link.

Pogo Bowl • Re: Full Screen

Will Pogo Bowl ever be a full screen game? I like it but after playing other full screen games it is a little hard on the eyes.
