Pogo™ Bowl provides a simple but powerful interface to make your shots. Start out by moving the mouse left or right to get the ball into the desired position. Once you have the ball where you want it, click on the ball to set the position. While holding the mouse button down, drag the mouse up into the lane area - you will notice a pointer being drawn as you do this. Move the pointer to the desired location and release the mouse button to initiate the throw. The faster you move the mouse and release the mouse button, the faster your throw will be. If you pause before throwing, the pointer will "cool" down (denoted by the change in color from red to yellow) and your throw will be slower.

You can bowl a maximum of two balls per frame from frames 1-9, and a maximum of three balls on the 10th frame. The following results are possible:
  • If you knock down all of the pins on your first throw, you get a Strike. A Strike is worth 10 points plus whatever you bowl on your next two throws.
  • If you knock down some (or none) of the pins on your first throw and knock down the remaining pins on the next throw, you get a Spare. A Spare is worth 10 points plus whatever you bowl on your next throw.
  • If you knock down some (or none) of the pins on your first throw and are unable to knock down the remaining pins on the next throw, you are considered to have bowled an "open" frame. Bowling an open frame hurts your ability to get high scores, but you can usually recover by bowling Strikes and Spares.

On the 10th frame (and only on the 10th frame), it is possible to throw three balls instead of two. If you Strike on your first throw, you will get two more throws; or, if you Spare on your second throw, you will get one more throw. The maximum score you can reach in one game (also known as a "Perfect" game) is 300 points. At the end of each game, the number of pins you knock down is converted into Tokens at a 1:1 ratio. On top of this, you can earn more Tokens for knocking down bonus pins or winning the Strike it Rich bonus. You can read more about these in the other sections of the help file.

Here are some additional pointers designed to help you become a more advanced Pogo™ Bowl player.

To get consistent scores, try to find a shot that knocks down most or all of the pins each time you throw the ball. If you can recreate a good shot, your chances of getting a high score are very good. You can also help yourself by leaving simple spares. Complicated spares occur when the ball "gets away" from you. It's almost impossible to avoid these moments, but try to keep them to a minimum if you can.

Although you do not have to apply spin to bowl well, Pogo™ Bowl simulates part of real-life Bowling by allowing you to add spin to your shot. However, unlike real Bowling, you can impart spin on the ball at any time after you've thrown the ball (but before it impacts with the pins).

Once you have released the ball, you can click and hold the left or right mouse buttons to add spin to the ball. The left mouse button imparts left spin (which makes the ball eventually curve to the left) while the right mouse button imparts right spin (which makes the ball eventually curve to the right). Depending on the speed of the ball, the spin may take effect sooner or later and may be more or less exaggerated - you'll have to experiment with the direction and speed of your shots as well as the amount of spin to perfect your throws, but it can help you get more pin "action" on impact or, even more importantly, alter the path of a poorly thrown ball.

Pogo Bowl • Re: POGO BOWL ISSUES/Plug-in failure

By Flageolet7 » September 26th, 2016, 8:24 pm

Adobe has finally provided a "fix" for Mac OS users who are having trouble with Flash NPAPI plug-in failure v. 23 that has occurred in many flash games including but not limited to PB, Yahtzee Party, Dominoes, et. al. I was given this solution by a representative of Adobe named "Chris." It is as follows:

"We released a new beta that should fix this bug. You can download it directly here:

https://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/l ... er_osx.dmg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If it asks you to uninstall first, please use this uninstaller and then try installing again.

https://fpdownload.macromedia.com/pub/l ... er_osx.dmg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;"

I'm truly grateful to Chris for the work done to find the solution! I hope this helps!

Hi. I think soon, if not already, Chrome won't be working for any games on Pogo. It seems, for now anyway, that the Opera browser for games that were affected by whatever Pogo did for Mac users (using Safari or Firefox), is what will correct the problems. For me, I'm finding all the games I play on Pogo are fine except for Pogo Bowl. So I play just that on the Opera browser. I've found a few games that I can't play on Opera, so basically just do bowling, and then go back to the Safari browser for any other games. If you download Opera, one thing you need to do for pogo is turn off ad blocker. At first I clicking on room links did nothing. I could type the name in "Find a room" and it worked. Then did a little research and found that ad blocker was the problem. There's a little icon at the of the browser window right next to the little heart. Just click that and you'd see where to turn off ad blocker just for Pogo. Then all room links work.

barby2player wrote:I have had "issues" for 2 days with Pogo Bowl. I contacted EA help and left my phone number and they called me in 10 minutes. The tech helped me load the browser "Opera". I have a Mac but Opera is FREE and also works with Windows and Linux. I am now problem free on ALL the games. Hope this will help some. Good luck and God Bless.

You gave me hope. I downloaded Opera, although I hate using any browser but Safari. No problem with download. But I can't use it. It doesn't allow me to choose a room. Doesn't matter which room I click on, nothing happens!! Maybe just clicking "Play Now" and take whatever room it takes you to is fine for some I bowl in 3 leagues, and need to bowl in specific rooms.

I tried the play now. Bowling works fine. But I CAN NOT click on room links to get to a room of choice. I've quit and re-opened, room links still don't work. So can not use Opera either.

Do the room links work for you?

I am able to pick my room in all games. So sorry it did not help you. barby2player

If you have updated to Flash Version 23.0.0.162 and you have a Mac OS and you use use either Firefox or Safari please note that there is an Adobe Flash issue specific to the NPAPI plug-in on Mac.

Adobe is aware of the problem and they are working on a fix, meanwhile Adobe suggests using Google Chrome as a temporary workaround.

I AM ALSO HAVING THE SAME TROUBLE & I HAVE A MAC. WHAT REALLY WAS UPSETTING IS ON THE LAST DAY OF TOURNAMENT I COULDN'T HELP OUR TEAM - SURE WISH POGO WOULD FIX THINGS SO MAC USERS CAN BOWL AGAIN PLUS POGO OF GAMES SHOULD BE AVAILABLE TO MAC USERS TOO.

I feel for you, but at this time, it's not a Pogo error -- it's the last flash update that isn't compatible on the Mac. So it's more involved than just a "pogo fix". I'm sure this will get solved in time by Apple, Adobe, and Pogo.. but for now, apparently, there is a work-around with Opera.
