Pogo™ Bowl provides a simple but powerful interface to make your shots. Start out by moving the mouse left or right to get the ball into the desired position. Once you have the ball where you want it, click on the ball to set the position. While holding the mouse button down, drag the mouse up into the lane area - you will notice a pointer being drawn as you do this. Move the pointer to the desired location and release the mouse button to initiate the throw. The faster you move the mouse and release the mouse button, the faster your throw will be. If you pause before throwing, the pointer will "cool" down (denoted by the change in color from red to yellow) and your throw will be slower.

You can bowl a maximum of two balls per frame from frames 1-9, and a maximum of three balls on the 10th frame. The following results are possible:
  • If you knock down all of the pins on your first throw, you get a Strike. A Strike is worth 10 points plus whatever you bowl on your next two throws.
  • If you knock down some (or none) of the pins on your first throw and knock down the remaining pins on the next throw, you get a Spare. A Spare is worth 10 points plus whatever you bowl on your next throw.
  • If you knock down some (or none) of the pins on your first throw and are unable to knock down the remaining pins on the next throw, you are considered to have bowled an "open" frame. Bowling an open frame hurts your ability to get high scores, but you can usually recover by bowling Strikes and Spares.

On the 10th frame (and only on the 10th frame), it is possible to throw three balls instead of two. If you Strike on your first throw, you will get two more throws; or, if you Spare on your second throw, you will get one more throw. The maximum score you can reach in one game (also known as a "Perfect" game) is 300 points. At the end of each game, the number of pins you knock down is converted into Tokens at a 1:1 ratio. On top of this, you can earn more Tokens for knocking down bonus pins or winning the Strike it Rich bonus. You can read more about these in the other sections of the help file.

Here are some additional pointers designed to help you become a more advanced Pogo™ Bowl player.

To get consistent scores, try to find a shot that knocks down most or all of the pins each time you throw the ball. If you can recreate a good shot, your chances of getting a high score are very good. You can also help yourself by leaving simple spares. Complicated spares occur when the ball "gets away" from you. It's almost impossible to avoid these moments, but try to keep them to a minimum if you can.

Although you do not have to apply spin to bowl well, Pogo™ Bowl simulates part of real-life Bowling by allowing you to add spin to your shot. However, unlike real Bowling, you can impart spin on the ball at any time after you've thrown the ball (but before it impacts with the pins).

Once you have released the ball, you can click and hold the left or right mouse buttons to add spin to the ball. The left mouse button imparts left spin (which makes the ball eventually curve to the left) while the right mouse button imparts right spin (which makes the ball eventually curve to the right). Depending on the speed of the ball, the spin may take effect sooner or later and may be more or less exaggerated - you'll have to experiment with the direction and speed of your shots as well as the amount of spin to perfect your throws, but it can help you get more pin "action" on impact or, even more importantly, alter the path of a poorly thrown ball.

Pogo Bowl • Re: Pogo Bowl 300 game

By Mod_Aby » August 15th, 2016, 11:38 pm

Hi, Mandy! There is no special badge for bowling a singular 300 game. There are all sorts of Weekly Badges, Mix and Match Badges, and Premium Album Badges for various and assorted accomplishments in bowling. You can use the badges tab at the top of the page to check out all the badges that are available for all games.

When you enter a room and there is a game in progress, if you wait in that same room for the next game to start, next game will always always star on frame 1.

One bowling game is only 6-7 minutes playing in speed rooms, if you enter a room with a game in progress you don't have to wait more than that for a new game to start. This means you can not lose more time than 6 minutes total, after this it is one game after the other, no wait. (unless you jump from room to room after every game is over)

CaGal1950 & Beyechonjr., Thank you both again for replying to my post. Just wanted to let you know that I just won the badge I was working for. I looked at the You Tube video for this game, as suggested by other players posts, and this helped me. I placed my ball slightly to the right of center dot, aimed between middle pin & pin directly to the left of it, then released ball slowly for yellow line to show. I didn't need to do the last step suggested regarding right clicking at the last second. In fact whenever, I tried to do that, I was getting worse, so I found for me, that skipping the right click at the last second, was the best way for me to achieve my goal. I wish you & all players good luck in the future. Hope this is helpful for other players who may be having difficulty. HAGD!!!

Beyechonjr, thank you for replying to my post. I have been doing this and have been getting closer to my goal, and know that I will probably eventually get the badge. I will keep plugging away til I get it. Anyways, hope you have a good day.

Pogo Bowl • Re: Pogo Bowl 200 Challenge

By meadowr » August 15th, 2016, 2:14 pm

CAGal1950, Thank you for replying to my post. I agree with you that Pogo Bowl is a multi-player game, as it should be. However, there are times when there is no one else in a room, that games start on other frames. There should be a way for those rooms to only start on 1st frame, even if it means waiting. The frustrating part for me, is waiting for a game to start, only to find out it is already on frame 3 or 4. There is no way for a 200 game to be achieved. If I play the game starting there, I spend a lot of extra time doing so, knowing that I can't get the badge, and if I wait for a game that starts at the 1st frame, I spend a lot of time doing that, also. I was not just thinking about myself when I posted this.

Pogo Bowl is a multi-player game. They can't start it at the first frame for those joining. That would mean making the game a "private" game for each person. Don't see that happening any time soon.
You can simply wait for the new game to start. Like the rest of us.

Pogo Bowl • Pogo Bowl 200 Challenge

By meadowr » August 15th, 2016, 1:43 pm

I am not very good at bowling, so I find it very frustrating that the only badge I need to complete a badge book, is the 200 or more in Pogo Bowl. When doing a challenge, I believe that Pogo should automatically start game on the 1st frame. Most of the time, the game starts on other frames, which means that even if you finish the game, there is no way to reach 200 or better. If the game starts on 1st frame, at least there is a fighting chance that 200 could be attained. Very time consuming, just to find a game that does start on 1st frame. I think Pogo should be able to only start a game at the beginning, if there is a challenge.
