Pogo™ Bowl provides a simple but powerful interface to make your shots. Start out by moving the mouse left or right to get the ball into the desired position. Once you have the ball where you want it, click on the ball to set the position. While holding the mouse button down, drag the mouse up into the lane area - you will notice a pointer being drawn as you do this. Move the pointer to the desired location and release the mouse button to initiate the throw. The faster you move the mouse and release the mouse button, the faster your throw will be. If you pause before throwing, the pointer will "cool" down (denoted by the change in color from red to yellow) and your throw will be slower.

You can bowl a maximum of two balls per frame from frames 1-9, and a maximum of three balls on the 10th frame. The following results are possible:
  • If you knock down all of the pins on your first throw, you get a Strike. A Strike is worth 10 points plus whatever you bowl on your next two throws.
  • If you knock down some (or none) of the pins on your first throw and knock down the remaining pins on the next throw, you get a Spare. A Spare is worth 10 points plus whatever you bowl on your next throw.
  • If you knock down some (or none) of the pins on your first throw and are unable to knock down the remaining pins on the next throw, you are considered to have bowled an "open" frame. Bowling an open frame hurts your ability to get high scores, but you can usually recover by bowling Strikes and Spares.

On the 10th frame (and only on the 10th frame), it is possible to throw three balls instead of two. If you Strike on your first throw, you will get two more throws; or, if you Spare on your second throw, you will get one more throw. The maximum score you can reach in one game (also known as a "Perfect" game) is 300 points. At the end of each game, the number of pins you knock down is converted into Tokens at a 1:1 ratio. On top of this, you can earn more Tokens for knocking down bonus pins or winning the Strike it Rich bonus. You can read more about these in the other sections of the help file.

Here are some additional pointers designed to help you become a more advanced Pogo™ Bowl player.

To get consistent scores, try to find a shot that knocks down most or all of the pins each time you throw the ball. If you can recreate a good shot, your chances of getting a high score are very good. You can also help yourself by leaving simple spares. Complicated spares occur when the ball "gets away" from you. It's almost impossible to avoid these moments, but try to keep them to a minimum if you can.

Although you do not have to apply spin to bowl well, Pogo™ Bowl simulates part of real-life Bowling by allowing you to add spin to your shot. However, unlike real Bowling, you can impart spin on the ball at any time after you've thrown the ball (but before it impacts with the pins).

Once you have released the ball, you can click and hold the left or right mouse buttons to add spin to the ball. The left mouse button imparts left spin (which makes the ball eventually curve to the left) while the right mouse button imparts right spin (which makes the ball eventually curve to the right). Depending on the speed of the ball, the spin may take effect sooner or later and may be more or less exaggerated - you'll have to experiment with the direction and speed of your shots as well as the amount of spin to perfect your throws, but it can help you get more pin "action" on impact or, even more importantly, alter the path of a poorly thrown ball.

The option is still there. Go to "My Account" then "Security" page.

Option is on the bottom and check the box to activate. This won't work on games that were never in pop up form to begin with, though it should work for Pogo Bowl.

"many players let us know that they really enjoyed having the games pop out automatically. In response to the many requests, we have brought that ability back exclusively for our Club Pogo members.

With one simple one-time adjustment to your Profile Settings, Club members can now have all the classic Pogo games pop-out into a separate window." --- Why doesn't this work? If this was a feature that 'many players really enjoyed' why did pogo eliminate it? :x

I host a league in a different temp. members room, and it isn't listed anymore either. If you look under the challenges tab there is a search box you can use to find your particular room. Hope that helps.

If you see someone acting in an abusive manner (excessive swearing, racial slurs, threats, sexual abuse, etc.) you can send in an Abuse Report to let Pogo know about it. In order to give Pogo the best chance of being able to take action, please report it as soon as you see it. Here's how to do that:

1. Click the abusive player's screen name in the 'Who's Here' list
2. Choose the 'Report Abuse' option from the menu. The Report Abuse screen will pop up.
3. Click the 'Add Players' button, and select all the offending players from the list.
4. Please put a check in the box next to the type of abuse they're committing. This will help Pogo respond quickly.
5. Enter a short description of the problem in the space provided.
6. Click the 'Send Report' button

If you're in a situation where the offender shows up, posts inappropriately , and leaves before you can locate him/her on the room's list and use Report Abuse, here's another way you can report the inappropriate behavior.

Her'es How:
1. Right click on any player in the Who's Here chat room list and choose the Report Abuse option. (This action will not report that player)
2. In the Report Abuse screen that comes up click Add Players
3. Choose Not Listed and then click Done
4. Check the SPAM/Advertising/Cheat/other offense info category
5. In the Please Briefly Describe the Problems space, type [poster's Screen Name] is (describe offense) so that it is clear who you are reporting and what they are doing when Pogo reviews the report.
6. Click "Send Report".

Pogo Bowl • Hit and Runs in Bowling for Fun

In the bowling room that I bowl in there are new nwmes that come in and just sit there. Atleast once a day maybe twice, sometimes more, they say something really nasty about a player using the language that would make your jaw drop. Something has to be done, to stop this harassment. I mean they talking about cutting peoples heads off. :o

Rooms are sometimes borrowed to meet the needs of the weekly badges.

Pogo is converting games to the embedded format as well as from Java to Flash. Changes are rolled out in stages, so not all members will see the same screen as others.

Please see this article for tips on using the new format:

By Mod_Aby » July 5th, 2014, 7:47 pm

To me, the Pogo Layout looks the same as it always has.

There are several reasons why a favorite room may not be available. The most common reason is that Pogo shifts rooms around to accommodate daily challenges and badge challenges.
Generally, those are returned after the badge week is over.

Other reasons include technical difficulties and occasionally, there is a problem with the kind of chat that is occurring in the room.

If your favorite room is missing, please give it a few days to see if it returns. The rooms often return as quietly and mysteriously as they disappeared.

It is called 'embedded" and Pogo is making all the games that way. You can tell the Club room by the P in front of them. And, yes, the game opens in the same windows, but you can change your settings under My Account> Security to Open in a separate window. ;)

I don't like the Pogo Bowl home page that has started appearing on my computer. There is no separation of Club Pogo and free rooms, and not all the Temporary Rooms are showing up. And the game itself is not opening in a new window, but at the top of the page. Is this the new norm, or am I experiencing some quirk? :x

this is exactly that a challenge.. not a 15 minute one..the initial objection to the badge was couple yrs ago..i two earned the badge.. it took time and patience.. bowl with a friend if you can.. will make the time go by easier by playing and a little chatting..but plan on bowling for probably hours even days to complete it... silver ones are hard too but come up quicker.. remember there can only be one per game..since there is a no refund policy.. good luck with your badge.. make a game of it.. and enjoy

Of course there is a way to get the Gold Pin badges and that is to slog through it. Many of earned them, me included.

Some preferred to change rooms once they earned a gold pin (knocked it down and stayed until the game was completed) with the hopes that a gold pin would happen quicker in a new room.

However, I stayed in the same room during my play session and earned the Gold Pin badges that way.

Pogo Bowl • Re: POGO BOWL

Once you get to the higher ranks, you won't gain a whole percentage point for every game you win.

If you are at rank 34, where there are 40 wins needed to move from one rank to the next, each game where you get a jackpot spin will gain you 2.5%.

If you are at rank 52, you need 120 wins between ranks so each jackpot spin will earn you 0.83%. Since the percentages are rounded, you'll sometimes see your percentage increase after the end of the game but you may need to win 2 games to see your rank progress go up to the next percent.
