Pogo™ Bowl provides a simple but powerful interface to make your shots. Start out by moving the mouse left or right to get the ball into the desired position. Once you have the ball where you want it, click on the ball to set the position. While holding the mouse button down, drag the mouse up into the lane area - you will notice a pointer being drawn as you do this. Move the pointer to the desired location and release the mouse button to initiate the throw. The faster you move the mouse and release the mouse button, the faster your throw will be. If you pause before throwing, the pointer will "cool" down (denoted by the change in color from red to yellow) and your throw will be slower.

You can bowl a maximum of two balls per frame from frames 1-9, and a maximum of three balls on the 10th frame. The following results are possible:
  • If you knock down all of the pins on your first throw, you get a Strike. A Strike is worth 10 points plus whatever you bowl on your next two throws.
  • If you knock down some (or none) of the pins on your first throw and knock down the remaining pins on the next throw, you get a Spare. A Spare is worth 10 points plus whatever you bowl on your next throw.
  • If you knock down some (or none) of the pins on your first throw and are unable to knock down the remaining pins on the next throw, you are considered to have bowled an "open" frame. Bowling an open frame hurts your ability to get high scores, but you can usually recover by bowling Strikes and Spares.

On the 10th frame (and only on the 10th frame), it is possible to throw three balls instead of two. If you Strike on your first throw, you will get two more throws; or, if you Spare on your second throw, you will get one more throw. The maximum score you can reach in one game (also known as a "Perfect" game) is 300 points. At the end of each game, the number of pins you knock down is converted into Tokens at a 1:1 ratio. On top of this, you can earn more Tokens for knocking down bonus pins or winning the Strike it Rich bonus. You can read more about these in the other sections of the help file.

Here are some additional pointers designed to help you become a more advanced Pogo™ Bowl player.

To get consistent scores, try to find a shot that knocks down most or all of the pins each time you throw the ball. If you can recreate a good shot, your chances of getting a high score are very good. You can also help yourself by leaving simple spares. Complicated spares occur when the ball "gets away" from you. It's almost impossible to avoid these moments, but try to keep them to a minimum if you can.

Although you do not have to apply spin to bowl well, Pogo™ Bowl simulates part of real-life Bowling by allowing you to add spin to your shot. However, unlike real Bowling, you can impart spin on the ball at any time after you've thrown the ball (but before it impacts with the pins).

Once you have released the ball, you can click and hold the left or right mouse buttons to add spin to the ball. The left mouse button imparts left spin (which makes the ball eventually curve to the left) while the right mouse button imparts right spin (which makes the ball eventually curve to the right). Depending on the speed of the ball, the spin may take effect sooner or later and may be more or less exaggerated - you'll have to experiment with the direction and speed of your shots as well as the amount of spin to perfect your throws, but it can help you get more pin "action" on impact or, even more importantly, alter the path of a poorly thrown ball.

Pogo Bowl • Re: Lost frame after intermission

By Just4FunThisTyme » May 27th, 2016, 6:53 am

Since you are a Club Pogo member you can avoid intermissions by selecting one of the designated Club Pogo chat rooms from the Chat Rooms tab beneath the games home screen.

If you're simply clicking on the 'Start Now' button then you are being placed in one of the free member rooms where you will be subjected to intermissions while ads play for the free Pogo members in the room.

Pogo Bowl • Lost frame after intermission

By JezzabellaAE » May 27th, 2016, 5:42 am

I happened to notice that I scored zero points for the sixth frame even though I bowled in each round. There occurred a very bothersome intermission after the fifth (as if the game isn't SLOW enough). I continued bowling once the game started up again, however, my score did not reflect a full game and tallied a zero for the sixth round. In other words, my score was exactly the same going into the 7th as it had been at the end of the 5th. Perhaps you can imagine my annoyance, especially because I finished with a score of 149! This must not continue. I feel like I have been robbed. We do not need an intermission no matter what.

I noticed if I went to a chat room I never got a gold pin but if I went to the regular room that it puts you on I got mine in pretty decent time, but none when I picked a special chat room.

No matter where I aim the ball, it veers off into the gutter. This has been an ongoing problem. On occasion it works like it's supposed to.

Well, I hate to state the obvious here, but I can only suggest that you try using a different browser. I use Firefox and rarely have any problems with it.

Let us know how you get on!

This is not about bowling badges.
I called EA support about obtaining a host badge for our league that plays in DCR.
I have had this badge before under a different screen name.
The person I talked to, told me I had to earn the badge.
I tried to explain that it is not that kind of badge, but to no avail...
So I guess there is no way to get a host badge anymore.

Pogo Bowl • Pogo Bowl is crashing my computer.

By bkpticecutter » May 10th, 2016, 11:28 pm

The last 3 times I've bowled, the game screen turns white. Then my computer does an automatic shutdown to protect itself. Goes to the blue screen, then the black screen with 3 choices of how I want to re-start it, Safe mode, Regular mode and something else, I just re-start regularly, which is pain, because it doesn't.
Today everything froze and my cursor disappeared so I couldn't even get out of there. I had to do a forced shutdown.

Anyone else ever get this? How'd you fix it?

Are playing in the slow rooms or the fast ones?

Are you playing nonstop or are you quitting or a short while and then come back? If you quit, unless you are lucky enough to start the new game in frame one, it's not until the second one that you get the silver pin.

You get a silver pin with every full game and while it is random, you get a gold pin once in about 5 or 6 games.

So if you play about 8 or 9 games and the quit for a while, you'll probably only end up with one gold pin and then have to start all over when you come back.

I was having a problem too getting gold pins. The trick that worked for me was this. Go to a empty room, play game til you get a gold pin. When you finish the game find another empty room and do the same thing over again. Never took me more than 3 games to get a gold pin in any of the rooms I went to. Got all the gold pins I needed. Good luck!!!!

I shared the same frustrating experiences, attempting to find enough gold pins to finally win the badge... I played all night, several nights in a row. In the end, I found the "fast" rooms and switched between them (at least the games move quicker, which eases the pain a bit too!), until by morning, I ran into a group assembling for a tournament game, and low and behold, all of a sudden there were gold pins in a number of back-to-back games, and I was able to get the 2 badges I was working on! I since returned to these same chat rooms and noted that gold pins do still appear regularly. So my advice is to look for a tournament if possible, and if not, at least try the fast rooms. Good luck!!!!

I feel your pain, grammad96! I have activated the Bowling Baddies Badge in the Sword and Sorcery album a few times and have yet to get it. (Knock down 16 gold pins in 3 weeks). I am determined to get it this time, but the going hasn't been easy. With 14/16, I played 10 games in a row last night (full games all in a row in the same room) and didn't get a single gold pin. Tonight (I'm embarrassed to admit this) I played 14 games in a row and finally got a gold pin. I'm now at 15/16 with a week left to play... fingers crossed, I will FINALLY earn this badge and complete the album.
