Take a Trick
In this card game, each partnership tries to take at least the number of tricks they bid on before Spades play is began.

Bags and Bagging Out
A common feature in Spades is designed to penalize players for underestimating the number of tricks they will take, while at the same time not removing the possible strategy of intentionally taking overtricks, or "bags".

Spades is a card game for 4 players. Players sitting across from each other are partners on the same team. The object of this online card game version of Spades is to be the first team to score 500 points.

At the start of the round, each player is dealt 13 cards. Select 1 card from your hand, and then click on the "Pass" button to pass the card to your partner. You will receive 1 card that your partner has passed to you.

Estimate how many tricks you can take during this round. A trick is a group of 4 cards, 1 card from each player. Your bid and your partner's bid are added together, and this is the number of tricks that your team must take.

Now the play begins. The player to the left of the dealer plays a card.

Card game play continues clockwise. When it is your turn, the blue "Play" prompt will appear above your cards. Double-click on a white card to play it. You must play a card of the same suit as the first card if you can. If you don't have any cards in the suit that was led, you can play any card.

Spades are always trump, meaning that they outrank all other suits. When each player has played a card, the person who played the highest Spade wins these cards for his or her team. This is called winning a trick. If no trump was played, the person who played the highest card in the suit that was led wins the trick. Aces are the highest card.

The player who won the trick now leads a card. Play continues in this manner until all 4 players have played all of their cards.

Here are some additional pointers designed to help you become a more advanced Spades player.

In this online card game, you cannot lead a Spade until Spades have been BROKEN. Spades are broken when someone plays a Spade because they did not have any cards in the suit that was led. Note: If Spades have not been broken, you may lead Spades if you have no other suits in your hand.

You cannot lead a Spade until someone has played a Spade on another trick. The only exception to this rule is if you have no other cards in your hand.

On the first trick, if you cannot follow suit, you can trump the trick with a Spade.

Other potential players in the game room can join your game in progress. This is most useful if a player drops out and you don't want to play with computer players.

Allows host to filter players who join the game to the skill ratings checked below. At least one of the five ratings (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Expert, or Master) must remain checked. This is a great way to play games with people of similar skill level. When this option is unchecked, the game is open to players of all skill ratings.

By -Kommom » November 22nd, 2017, 12:00 am

I have one of the 2 games I need but I really need help to finish this badge. I paid for the album and can't finish it on my own. I went from a rating of over 1400 to 1200 something, I am not that good a player and I get a LOT of abuse trying to get it on my own with regular players. Thanks

I finally got it, thanks anyway.

Spades • Scores Switched

By NokmusWolf » November 21st, 2017, 4:16 pm

This has happened two days in a row. This is what just now happened. My team's score was 410. The other team was at 170. When the hand ended and scores were posted, it showed their team with 410 and ours with 170. My cache is cleaned. Cookies are clean. There is nothing on my end to cause it.

They are being removed because this is not a complaints department, but a MEMBERS ONLY forum platform.

As has been explained thousands of times, Pogo staff DOES NOT read the posts in these forums, and only with a few exceptions (Pogo Llama and Rachael), these posts are only seen by other members, who cannot do anything to alleviate these problems that other members are encountering.

From what I understand, once complaints are in place, members usually wont be contacted again with the results for cases such as these.
I also think one cannot cancel a membership once paid for.

I hope you will find a resolution for your complaint. Good luck

Spades • Re: why wont pogo stop the cripes in spades?

By Mod_Aby » November 14th, 2017, 8:18 pm

There is nothing anyone here on the forum can do to help you. We are all members like yourself.

These issues must be reported from the game room at the time they occur. If the offender is operating too quickly and has left the room you can still report the offence by using the tips from the link posted below which was provided by one of our helpful Pogo Forum members. When you make a report using these tips be sure to include in the comment section as much as the offenders screen name as you can remember. You will need to describe what happened in the room.

How to use the report system

Since we here on the forum are unable to help resolve this problem, I will lock the thread at this time.

Spades • Re: Blue back

By skeetspark » November 14th, 2017, 4:19 pm

I'll take a guess that you are posting about the back of the playing cards used in Spades. The backs of these cards have been the same since I started playing on this site more than 10 years ago. If you are concerned about the color, being somewhat of a card fanatic, I can tell you a certain brand of playing cards were originally produced in red, blue, green, and brown. The green and brown cards were discontinued many years ago and that brand of cards only has red and blue backs these days. If that wasn't your concern, please just disregard my post.

Thank you Mod Jada! The suggestion you gave to get to spade table options is the same as I tried and it didn't work. I did change screen resolution, but it didn't help either. I then tried to get the canasta table options and the same thing is happening. There are probably more games being affected. I did find the Advance options button on the bottom of the table option page, today. I clicked on it and the advance options came up.

Thanks again for your help.

Are you trying to change the options?
If so, you can't do that by clicking Play People or Play Robot.
Click on the Chat Rooms tab underneath the game and select a room.
Choose an empty table and you will get the Options screen.

Also, your screen resolution is a bit on the low side.
It shouldnn't be lower than 1024 x 768, so play around with the resolution until you find something a bit higher.

Spades • Spades table options are faded out

By jawbreaker0102 » November 7th, 2017, 7:26 am

I don't know how long this has been going on . The pop-up spade table "options box" words are faded out . I can see the check marks, but the words are gone. Also, I cannot type in the table chat box. Sometimes, if I click on the site info URL, I can then type chat in the box.
