Spades

Can you succeed against the superstars in online Spades? Pair up with a partner in this four-player online card game of wits. Be the first team to score 500 points by estimating how many tricks you and your partner can take in each round to win.

Practice Before You Play
Play against the computer to improve your Spades skills.

Choose Your Opponent
Test your card game skills against the highest caliber of online Spades players.

Take a Trick
In this card game, each partnership tries to take at least the number of tricks they bid on before Spades play is began.

Bags and Bagging Out
A common feature in Spades is designed to penalize players for underestimating the number of tricks they will take, while at the same time not removing the possible strategy of intentionally taking overtricks, or "bags".

Spades is a card game for 4 players. Players sitting across from each other are partners on the same team. The object of this online card game version of Spades is to be the first team to score 500 points.

At the start of the round, each player is dealt 13 cards. Select 1 card from your hand, and then click on the "Pass" button to pass the card to your partner. You will receive 1 card that your partner has passed to you.

Estimate how many tricks you can take during this round. A trick is a group of 4 cards, 1 card from each player. Your bid and your partner's bid are added together, and this is the number of tricks that your team must take.

Now the play begins. The player to the left of the dealer plays a card.

Card game play continues clockwise. When it is your turn, the blue "Play" prompt will appear above your cards. Double-click on a white card to play it. You must play a card of the same suit as the first card if you can. If you don't have any cards in the suit that was led, you can play any card.

Spades are always trump, meaning that they outrank all other suits. When each player has played a card, the person who played the highest Spade wins these cards for his or her team. This is called winning a trick. If no trump was played, the person who played the highest card in the suit that was led wins the trick. Aces are the highest card.

The player who won the trick now leads a card. Play continues in this manner until all 4 players have played all of their cards.

Here are some additional pointers designed to help you become a more advanced Spades player.

In this online card game, you cannot lead a Spade until Spades have been BROKEN. Spades are broken when someone plays a Spade because they did not have any cards in the suit that was led. Note: If Spades have not been broken, you may lead Spades if you have no other suits in your hand.

You cannot lead a Spade until someone has played a Spade on another trick. The only exception to this rule is if you have no other cards in your hand.

On the first trick, if you cannot follow suit, you can trump the trick with a Spade.

Other potential players in the game room can join your game in progress. This is most useful if a player drops out and you don't want to play with computer players.

Allows host to filter players who join the game to the skill ratings checked below. At least one of the five ratings (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Expert, or Master) must remain checked. This is a great way to play games with people of similar skill level. When this option is unchecked, the game is open to players of all skill ratings.

Spades • Re: badge requirements for the march 25th 2015 badge

Maybe what is happening to you is something similar to what happened to me with a Pinochle badge few days ago, when I wasn't getting credit for my pinochles.
What worked for me was:
Click Play from the Home Page Not badge central, this step is important ;) )
Enter a room, open a table, play my game, finish the game, get credit for my pinochles.
THEN: exit everything, table, room, game...evertyhing. Go back to Home page and start over again....click Play on Home page, enter a room, open a table, play a game, finish the game, get credit, exit all....repeat!

But why do you "change" partners?
Sounds like you keep chaging seats during the game.
Play the entire game with same partner/robot, finish the game (you will get a jackpot spin if your team wins) and wait for the progress to show in the chat area, sometimes you have to click Play again to your progress.
Once the game is over then you can change table/partners.

Vane, I have actually tried that 3 times. Every time that I change "partners" even if it's computer 2 to computer 2, it stops crediting my tricks. Wither I win the bids or not. I can't find anything in "help" and have submitted an issue, but every where I look, I get that same answer that you just gave. I spent about 2 hours today trying to play with the same partner (winning over 250 tricks over that period of time) and as soon as they got booted by their computer, it again stopped counting the tricks. I just wondered if anyone had the same issue as I did. And frustrated that I appear to be wasting my time trying to earn this badge. Ugg, ya know?

I think you need to finish the game to get credits for all the tricks you won in that game
You can play robots if you want, no need to have a real person as partner of play people only

Please give the badge name and complete description. Perhaps then someone will be able to offer suggestions.

Had the same problem. On your menu bar under "view", make sure Zoom is at 100% Mine was at 95% and I couldn't play either. Changing to 100% fixed the problem!

Don't click on Play People or Play Robots because those have pre-set options that cannot be changes.

Look underneath the game and choose a room from the Chat Room list. Choose an empty table and you will be able to change the options.

If you want to play with the robots, make sure that you don't have a checkmark for a rated game. You can make your table private by putting a checkmark next to "Make table private" and give it a password so that another human player will not be able to join your game without that password.

Also. leave that lobby window open. You can minimize it, but don't X out of it. Once you set your options, click on Play (at the bottom). A second window will open and you will be able to play the game.

Trying to win badge by winning three 1000 point games this week. Got help on how to change points in game but when I try it out at chat room table it just doesn't work. Let's say you would want to win this badge. How would you proceed in setting yourself up to achieve it? I've never used a chat room before. I know i need to select a room and press play at a table. I can't seem to be able to change the game points from 500 to 1,000. What do you do after you're all set up? Are you sent back to the regular game set up to play spades? I'm so confused!

Are you contacting Customer Service? Because this is a members forum and there isn't anything we can do to fix a programming glitch. And, Pogo staff don't usually peruse these forums.
I, personally have never only had your experience of not getting credit on one game (not spades) and I just let the badge expire. I have been playing Spades on another account for several Mix and Match badges and PBA along with a personal and I have received credit for all the requirements. (winning games). The badge you are having a problem with I completed last month with no problems.
